The Bangladesh National AI Policy Framework (2026–2035) is a comprehensive policy and regulatory framework developed to guide the responsible development, governance, deployment, and oversight of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Bangladesh. The framework provides a strategic roadmap for establishing a trustworthy, secure, ethical, and innovation-driven national AI ecosystem that supports economic growth, digital transformation, public sector modernization, and sustainable development.

The policy proposes a risk-based AI governance model covering AI regulation, AI ethics, AI safety, algorithmic transparency, explainable AI (XAI), accountability, data governance, privacy protection, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, AI standards, regulatory compliance, and human rights safeguards. It also outlines institutional governance mechanisms, national implementation strategies, regulatory coordination, sector-specific AI adoption, public-private collaboration, AI research and innovation, workforce development, AI capacity building, and investment priorities.

Designed with Bangladesh’s socioeconomic and institutional context in mind, the framework aligns national AI development with internationally recognized principles and policy frameworks, including the OECD AI Principles, UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the EU AI Act, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), ISO/IEC AI standards, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The publication presents practical policy recommendations for government agencies, policymakers, regulators, academia, industry, civil society, startups, and international development partners seeking to build a resilient and future-ready AI governance ecosystem. It contributes to ongoing global discussions on AI policy, responsible AI, trustworthy AI, AI governance, AI regulation, digital public infrastructure, AI risk management, AI for sustainable development, and emerging technology governance in developing countries.
